Tree Surveys

At Jenks we carry out tree safety assessments, full arboricultural surveys and BS5837:2005 Trees in Relation to Construction reports for planning and construction.

We can provide a simple written report containing basic tree details or full arboricultural or tree surveys which are similar but much more in-depth and are typically applied to single trees.

All our arboriculturists have professional indemnity insurance to protect tree owners against legal claims resulting from errors in assessment. Please note, however that the insurance will not cover you if you fail to act on recommendations contained in the report.

Why Do I Need to Have a Survey Done?

Tree owners have a duty to ensure they have taken reasonable steps to ensure the safety of their trees. Early consultation with someone with knowledge of the planning process, the British Standard and tree physiology is the best way to avoid costly mistakes and delays.

The British Standard (BS5837:2005 ) means that where a tree or trees are likely to be affected by a planned build, extension or demolition an assessment report conforming to the requirements of the BS5837:2005 has to be produced outlining specific criteria about the tree or trees, their management, viability and protection throughout construction/demolition.
